Kenneth and Charles McNay Taylor formed Bridgeness Ceramics to produce the beautiful hand painted tiles you see on the website.
These picture tiles are made by the tube lining process developed in the mid 19th century. The tiles are hand painted by artists and fired at 1200 degrees centigrade to give a lustrous tactile 3 dimensional glazed finish, producing unique ceramic picture tiles, for you to hang in your kitchen, living room or bathroom; decorative tiles are a brilliant alternative to framed pictures.
Our Grandfather and Great Grandfather were well known Scottish potters and founded Bridgeness Pottery in Bo'ness near Edinburgh in 1887, passing the business down from father to son through the generations of McNays.
We are proud of our ancestor's pottery heritage and we are sure that you will be intrigued by the pottery site: Bo'ness Pottery which shows the history of Bridgeness Pottery. It is fascinating to explore this website, to view the wares that Bridgeness made and to look at the pictures of the workers and artists employed over 90 years.
We have had interesting Scottish images painted in vibrant colours for our new range of picture tiles. These hand made ceramic tiles let you re-live that special holiday you spent in Scotland!
We have pictures of seaside and coastal scenes, Highland icons such as the Thistle, Highland Cow and classic Steam Trains, to name but a few.
Breaches of copyright will be reported to the Artists and Photographers who have granted Bridgeness Ceramics the exclusive license in ceramic tiles media. All images are fully licensed.
Any of these ceramic picture tiles would make a unique present or something for you to cherish in you home.
Please browse through the categories in our site to find the perfect tile for your home. We look forward to hearing from you.
