These picture tiles are made by the tube lining process developed in the mid 19th century. The tiles are hand painted by artists and fired at 1200 degrees centigrade to give a lustrous tactile 3 dimensional glazed finish, producing unique ceramic picture tiles, for you to hang in your kitchen, living room or bathroom; decorative tiles are a brilliant alternative to framed pictures.
During the process of firing the tiles, crazing may occur. This does not weaken the tile in any way. It is not visible when viewing normally. We will not sell tiles that have excessive crazing on them but some crazing is acceptable.
We have had interesting Scottish images painted in vibrant colours for our new range of picture tiles. These hand made ceramic tiles let you re-live that special holiday you spent in Scotland!
We have pictures of seaside and coastal scenes, Highland icons such as the Thistle, Highland Cow and classic Steam Trains, to name but a few.
The backing can be easily removed by soaking the tile in warm soapy water for 4 hours and then easing the board free if the tile is to be set into kitchen or bathroom tiling.
Breaches of copyright will be reported to the Artists and Photographers who have granted Bridgeness Ceramics the exclusive license in ceramic tiles media. All images are fully licensed.
Any of these ceramic picture tiles would make a unique present or something for you to cherish in your home.
